Diagnostic Tool for Child Emotional/Behavioural Problems Overall Rank: 132
Use of the Dominic diagnostic tool, a validated, interactive, child self-report instrument or other similar tools among children presenting with emotional or behavioural problems.
Diagnosis and initiation of treatment at very early stages of the disease, when little or minimum intervention can bring therapeutic results (e.g., within the first two years of illness).
Additional Domain(s) : Health Conditions, Children
Rationale
Self-administration of the Dominic interactive tool or other similar tools (e.g. Terry interactive, Ming interactive and transcultural versions) among children aged 6 11 years with emotional and behavioural problems to gauge childrens feelings using visual and auditory stimuli compared to tools designed for adults that miss internalized problems such as depression and anxiety (BASC, CBCL and other instruments used to assess the mental health of young people).

Desired outcome is early detection, in particular problems frequently internalized by young girls; fair access to care (not only for troublemakers); shared language between primary care and specialized professionals and evaluation of treatments.
