Screening for Comorbid Disorders Overall Rank: 123
Use of the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health Concurrent Disorders screener, a validated computer-administered rating scale (5-20 minutes to complete) that flags the possible presence of co-morbid mental health or addictions disorders.
A condition in which a person has both a major mental illness and another health problem (e.g., development disability, substance abuse, personality disorder, or other general medical conditions such as heart disease or cancer).

  • Routine screening for COD is crucial but one scale does not fit all services (i.e. crisis services need to screen but a 5-20 minute screener is not the answer here). Each service needs to find an appropriate screener and use routinely (e.g. Brown 2 item s
  • This tool excludes many mental health conditions with DSM-IV criteria.
  • This scale was designed for substance abuse population to identify mental health issues not both in primary care. PRIME or other are better.
